pycal - popup calendar

screenshot of pycal

Background

I'm always needing to glance at a calendar for some reason. I hate to wait for programs to load, and I don't necessarily need a full-blown PIM running, I may just need to know what day the 14th will all on. This app fulfills that need. Only a few short lines of python, and it'll run anywhere python's installed.

Usage

Just run it. :) Really! It doesn't do much. When launched, it will display the current month's calendar with the current day highlighted. Use the navigation arrows on the top bar to view other years or months. Of course, the close button on the bottom, closes the window.

Get It

You can grab it from here:

pycal
pycal_1.0_arm.ipk
pycal_1.0_arm.ipk.asc

Or from the unstable feed on handhelds.org. Or... the easiest method (assuming that you've configured ipkg to point to the unstable feed) is to simply give the command:
ikpg install pycal
The ipk includes a menu entry, so it should be available for use as soon as it's installed. For those using gtk-menu, add this line to /etc/gtk-menu:
pycal=/usr/bin/pycal

Enjoy!
